Sisters and Babies

Kat's parents welcomed their three daughters with their children to Mechanicsburg at the beginning of June. Things were a bit hectic and it was difficult to plan things around the schedules of four babies from three time zones but we had a wonderful time. Laurel and Sharon were home for about two weeks and Kat was there for two long weekends. While Kat was there we all went shopping one day (Kat's best friend joined us!), went to Hershey Gardens, swam at Jason's parents' house and in the baby pool in the back yard, and visited the park a couple of times. Here is a sampling of the fun.

Camping Fun

Well I was somehow convinced it would be a good idea to take our one year old on a camping trip with Jason's parents. Despite my protests, we packed up the car and headed North to Wellsboro, PA for the Memorial Day weekend. The drive was beautiful and Wellsboro was like a town grabbed out of a Disney story. The main street is lined with beautiful Victorian homes and rows of cutsie storefronts. Gas lamps line the streets where apparently at Christmas time the store keepers dress in period costumes and they do a Dickens Christmas. So cute.

Camping wasn't as bad as I expected. Daniel was in to things but he never tried to leap into the fire or roll in poison ivy. He managed to remain mostly unscathed and had a wonderful time playing with his grandparents. Sleeping however, was a disaster; since we were in the same tent he thought he should sleep with us - there was no sleeping, just tossing and turning and crying.

We did some hiking, spent some time walking around the town, and drove around to enjoy the area. The Grand Canyon was beautiful and we got to see a bald eagle!
Daniel wore himself out with all the fresh air.

If it wasn't for the inescapable, ubiquitous black flies that ruined any enjoyment, we might have stayed on another night and day. As it was, we had had enough of the pesky jerks and packed it in a day early. I think if we decide to try camping again soon, we need to make sure it is a fly-free zone.
