Dr. Jan is amazed at how perfect our little Daniel is. He has had one or two small colds but has never been sick. (However, since the check up he picked up something in the nursery and was sick for almost a week.)
He is very smart and well advanced physically (or just very busy). His vocabulary at this time is good for a boy too:
Mommy, Daddy, hi, bye, ball, hat, hot, Pop Pop (Kat's dad), puff, please, kitty cat, uh oh, bubble, Ty (a friend), and others which I can't recall right now.
He is still small though - 22lb 3oz and 30 1/2 inches tall. This puts him in the 18th percentile for weight and 26th for height.

Massanuttan Vacation
It seems we have an annual event now, taking a vacation in the late summer with Jason's family. It started in Ocean City three years ago and continued with Cape Hatteras last year. This year we went to a mountain resort in Virgina where our parents have time shares. Jason's grandparents were all able to come and we were got to share a day with his aunt Barb and three of her four boys who have a house in the resort. The weather was perfect and the accommodations were very comfortable. We spent a lot of time just hanging around the townhouse playing with Daniel. When we did get out we toured battle fields, picniced, took walks, played at the playground, and swam in the pool. It was a perfect time and I cherished the time I got to spend with Daniel. He entertained us all and just loved being the center of attention.
Daniel the entertainer.
Walking in big shoes (and drinking - pretty coordinated don't you think?)

Polo Match
Hempt Farms, a horse farm in Mechanicsburg, had their 5th annual charity polo match this weekend. Prior to the match we got to check out the book mobile full of free books of all kinds - perfect for our little one who can't get enough of books. Then we watched some Jack Russel races. The dogs were to chase a rabbit skin lure down a narrow track and jump the obstacles. I don't think the dogs were told about the jumping.
Daniel was fascinated by the horses. He pointed them out all the time and was thrilled by their noises. I am not sure we'll do it again but it was a neat experience.

Gardening
Accessorizing
Daniel loves to play with hats and shoes. Hat was even his third word, after Mommy and ball. He loves to put them on himself (though not wear them for long) and to share the fun with others. When it comes to shoes, his favorite thing is to try to walk in shoes that obviously aren't his. (you'll get to see some video in a future post)

Friday Morning at the Zoo
Since we are members of the Lehigh Valley Zoo and Animal Preserve, we get to go an hour before they open. I went in a bit late to work Friday and my Mom and I took little Daniel. He must have remembered the goat that scared him at the farm in June because when he saw the goats he started crying and all the other animals after that scared him! Jason and I took him on Saturday again and he was fine.
